Shell 7

Multiple of 8 stitches plus 1 additional stitch

The pattern is strongly biased. This pattern and Shell 4 are both derived from a pattern in How to Use Florence Knitting Silk No. 4; Nonotuck Silk Company; Forbes Lithograph Manfg. Co.; 1882. The original pattern was designed to be worked in rounds. It had only 7 rows. In order to make it work in back-and-forth knitting, the even numbered rows had to be flipped and a purl row was added at the end. By 'flipped' I mean that knit stitches had to be made into purl stitches, k2-tog became p2-tog and the order of stitches was reversed (like reading the original pattern from right to left). In Shell 4, I adapted the pattern with a 'dead' purl row at the end to make the row count work.
Repeat Rows 1 - 14.
